Northern Tier - Summer 2025

Troop 1511 Scouts and Leaders traveled to Northern Tier (Ely, MN) this summer! Not only did our unit get the opportunity to canoe the boundary waters between the USA and Canada, ahead of the trip a night was spent at the Wolf Sanctuary learning about the wolves and getting an opportunity to spend the night at the sanctuary. 

On the trail at Northern Tier, the scouts paddled and portaged over 50 miles, earning their 50+ miler patch. They also had the opportunity to help measure the lake water clarity at the lakes they canoed through. Each night was spent at a different campsite each with their own spectacular views! Scouts and leaders had the opportunity to cook, swim, and fish while on the trail. Our intrepid guide, Interpreter Ben Poche helped guide the youth with the trail they wanted to take; visiting waterfalls and beaches along the way.
