Medical Forms
(Forms A, B needed for any event or outing. Include form C when going on an outing lasting 72 hrs or more). This form will need to be refreshed every program year. Traditionally, medical forms are turned in June 1 ahead of Summer Camps. Both Adults & Youth will need to have a current medical form on file with the unit.Additional information, including Frequently Asked Questions and Medication Use in Scouting may be found at scouting.org/health-and-safety/safety-moments/annual-health-and-medical-record/
Please include copies of the immunization record and insurance card.
Camping
Scouting includes an outdoor program and many of the rank and Eagle required merit badges require camping nights or activities conducted during a weekend or long-term camp out. Weekend camping also provide leadership opportunities for Youth and Adults alike!
Duty Roster
Sample Duty Roster |
The duties roster is a blueprint for shared responsibility. In preparation for the main event, during breakout group sessions, buddies are assigned to various tasks to assure their patrol’s smooth running and organization for mealtimes. Everyone has a job to do. For long term camps, responsibilities can change daily after lunch cleanup. If the outing is only for a few meals, assignments are changed after each meal.
The Patrol Leader will fill out the duty roster ahead of camp. A printed copy should be brought to camp to be posted at the cooking and prep area for easy access.
Parents at Weekend Camp Outs
Adult Leadership is absolutely necessary at a weekend event or camp out. As of June 1, 2023, all adults who wish to stay overnight with our unit must be a registered leader. For more information about BSA's commitment to keeping our Youth Safe may be found at www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/gss01/. Additionally, any adults who will be with our Youth should complete the Episcopal Diocese of Texas's program "Safeguarding God's Children" prior to overnights.
If there is not enough registered and trained adult leadership, camp outs may not go forward. Please help your Youth by becoming a registered and trained adult! Camp Outs are a part of the Aims of Scouting and count towards various Advancement and Awards Scouts may earn as part of their Journey to Eagle Scout Rank.
Permission Forms
Activities including weekend camp outs and other events may require a permission form to be filled out. You can find a copy on Scoutbook or at the a national website (here). Please submit these forms for all Youth attending prior to the event.
Leadership & Planning
Patrol Leaders Council (PLC)
The senior youth leadership of the troop meet regularly to organize and plan upcoming meetings and events. The PLC is comprised of the Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader(s), and the Scribe. The Adult Leadership may also be present to assist with questions.
The following links provide forms that will assist the Youth during the PLC.
Additional information about the Patrol Leaders Council may be found here.
Event Planning
Youth have the opportunity to take on a leadership role for a single event, such as fundraising or a service day. To assist the youth with planning, the following links will be useful. Youth Scouts will coordinate and report to the Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, or the Senior Patrol Leader if the ASPL isn't available. Adults and Parents guide the Youth and help them reach out to their Youth Leaders.
