Rank Advancement
Scouts learn many skills that not only help them scouting, but in life as well. As a Scout's knowledge grows, they get closer to reaching the highest rank BSA has to offer: Eagle. Scout is the first rank earned and teaches the basics of scouting. Tenderfoot through First Class covers many skills including First Aid, Aquatics, and Citizenship. The "Trail to First Class" usually takes 12-18 months to complete. Star, Life, and Eagle focus on leadership and merit badges. Scouts can work on rank advancement until their 18th birthday.
Ranks in order: Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life, Eagle
